How Long Does It Take to Build a Connected Operations System?
It depends on how many tools are involved and how much of the work is connecting existing tools versus building something from scratch, but most single-flow systems (one request type, a few connected tools) go live in two to four weeks.
The timeline breaks into three real phases. First, mapping: understanding exactly how a job or request moves through your business today, tool by tool, person by person. This is usually a handful of short conversations, not a long discovery process. Second, connecting: wiring the tools you already use so information moves automatically instead of getting retyped. This is where most of the real time goes, and it depends heavily on whether your existing tools have a clean way to connect or need a more manual bridge. Third, testing: running real jobs through the new system before your team depends on it daily, catching edge cases while the stakes are still low.
A system with one role and a couple of connected tools, say a scheduling tool talking to a CRM, can be live in one to two weeks. A full multi-role system with an owner dashboard, field views, office views, and several connected tools is closer to four to six weeks. The variable that moves the number most isn't how many dashboards you need, it's how many of your existing tools need a custom connection built versus already having one available.
What doesn't change the timeline much: how big your team is, or how many jobs you run a month. What does: how many different tools are currently involved in getting one job done, start to finish.
